Hope and I went strawberry picking on Friday morning. The two of us picked 20 lbs. of strawberries in 45 minutes, I was pretty impressed. On our walk at the end of the day I noticed Hope's shoulders had gotten a little sunburned (totally mommy's fault for not re-applying sunscreen mid-day).
I said, "Oh Hope your shoulders look like they got a little pink today."
Hope replied, "I like the color pink. God knows I like the color pink. God has big ears. He hears everything I say."
Our God does have big ears and He does hear everything we say, how I love to learn simple yet such important lessons from my 4 year old.
Give ear to my words, O LORD, consider my sighing. Listen to my cry for help, my King and my God, for to you I pray. In the morning, O LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation. Psalm 5: 1-3
"Because he loves Me," says the LORD, "I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges My Name. He will call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. With long life will I satisfy him and show him My salvation." Psalm 91:14-16
Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth! Serve the Lord with gladness! Come into His presence with singing! Know that the Lord, He is God! It is He who made us, and we are His; we are His people, and the sheep of His pasture. Enter His gates with thanksgiving, and His courts with praise! Give thanks to Him, bless His name! For the Lord is good; His steadfast love endures forever, and His faithfulness to all generations. ~Psalm 100

Two Sinks...
Who needs two sinks in their kitchen? Doesn't that seem over the top and frivolous? Well today I had use for both of my sinks. The dishwasher was full of clean dishes, the "main" sink was full of dirty dishes and I had to hand wash my kitchen aid bowl to make cookies for tonight...hmmm. I used the second sink to do the handwashing, so I didn't have to take the time to unload the dishwasher, then load it with the dirty dishes from the "main" sink so I'd have room to do the handwashing. I was feeling stretched for time and decided against the long job. I did get to thinking about Laura Ingalls Wilder and how the times have changed. I was thinking if she needed a bowl that was dirty she'd have to go down to the nearest stream get some water in a bucket, bring it to the cabin, boil it then wash her dish...just some thoughts. I will continue to be ever grateful to our Father in Heaven for where we are, but also pray that I do not lose focus with the "extra's in this world". A good friend shared a thought provoking proverb earlier today, "Better a little with the fear of the LORD than great wealth with turmoil" Proverbs 15:16
